Nancy Lu Rosenheim | Swallow City Pods (detail of installation)
Polystyrene, papier-mâché, plastic Easter eggs and other detritus
small: 7”x15”x6” - large: 19”x25”15"
2015
Nancy Lu’s imagery is corporeal and anthropomorphic, portraying nature and the body as responsive, voluptuous forms—objects become verbs (skin recoils, vines choke) to dramatize force, action, and reaction. Through material exploration (foam, gypsum, papier‑mâché, epoxy over polystyrene) and a deliberate juxtaposition of abject crudeness and refined polish, the work emphasizes excess, a sharp sexual edge, and nature’s takeover of the manmade.
