Ting Yan Khor | in between oakbrook and chinatown
Ting Yan Khor | in between oakbrook and chinatown
Lithography on Muslin, wooden dowels
41" x 55"
2016

Ting presents quiet, banal scenes—an empty plastic chair, bedsheets drying on bamboo poles, weary mops—whose unassuming presence slows the viewer and evokes a palpable but absent human presence. Through layered, collaged hand-drawn and printed imagery that constructs illustrated landscapes and imaginary architecture, the artist abstracts personal places into familiar everyday moments that invite contemplation of the beauty and weight of the mundane.
